WSCA Strategic Plan

Since 2013, West Shore Christian Academy has undergone a strategic planning process that has resulted in a re-articulated mission and vision statement as well as core values.  The Leading the Way 5-Year Strategic Plan was developed with input from parents, students, faculty and staff.  and year one was completed successfully. The Board of Trustees, administration, faculty and staff have a passionate desire to see the school grow in excellence and flourish as a community, to God’s glory.  Year one of the Strategic Plan was a great success. In 2013-14 alone enrollment growth totaled 14%; a total of 103 new students to reach our Net 100 goal.  For the first time since 2008 WSCA opened two sections of Kindergarten and we are excited to see these two classes feed up through the Lower School in the years to come.  In addition to new mission appropriate families we saw the addition of many qualified, professional faculty to our school community.  The addition of Bible, English, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Department Heads reinforced the school’s commitment to academic excellence and educational innovation.

In the fall of 2013, the Board and Administration partnered with Charter Oak ( to develop marketing and admission plans and procedures.  Charter Oak is a K-12 Christian School Research and Consulting firm which has experience working with over 40 Christian Schools nationwide.  Charter Oak completed a General Population Study, a Market Analysis, and an Admissions Study.  Full studies are available with this strategic plan document along with a brief summary of Charter Oak’s key findings with specific links to the Leading the Way strategic plan presented by Charter Oak in December of 2013.

The Leading the Way Annual Fund was introduced in 2013-14, led by Director of Development Ellen Skill and the WSCA Foundation Board.  The WSCA Foundation supports the Director of Development in the effort of securing gifts for the annual fund, coordinating the Race for Education and securing grants to support school initiatives.  An Annual Fund goal of $200,000 was reached in 2013-14. Annual Fund dollars supported several facility improvements, including a renovated Science lab and Science classrooms, renovated locker rooms, new carpet and paint in several Lower School classrooms, new flooring and repainted lockers in the Upper School entrance.  Annual fund dollars also provided professional development for faculty pursuing graduate classes and technology upgrades.  An Annual Fund goal of $250,000 has been established for the 2015-16 school year.

WSCA is committed to moving the Leading the Way strategic plan forward with many exciting changes taking place in 2014-15.  For a summary of the Leading the Way 5-Year Strategic Plan click on the links below.
