STEM Department Head - Stephen "Andy" Roe

As the WSCA STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Department Head, Mr. Roe oversees the STEM Department and the development of course outlines. He provides accountability to Science and Math teachers (K-12) and designates appropriate teaching assignments. In addition, Mr. Roe offers vision, leadership, and oversight to the growing WSCA Robotics program.
Prior to joining WSCA, Mr. Roe served as a high school science teacher in the West Shore School District, specializing in the areas of physics, chemistry and physical science. He successfully incorporated Learning-Focused School (LFS) strategies in the classroom along with a variety of Interactive Technologies, such as EMField, PhET Interactive Simulations, WebAssign, GoogleDocs, and Pasco GLXplorer Software. He also has experience teaching middle school physical science in both the West Shore School District and Wyomissing Area School District.
Mr. Roe holds a Masters of Science degree in Instructional Technology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He also earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics Education and Chemistry Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated Cum Laude.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Roe attends West Shore Evangelical Free Church with his wife and two children.
Interesting Facts: Mr. Roe is experienced in percussion instruction and played an integral role in leading the Cedar Cliff Marching Band to a first place finish in High Percussion at the Atlantic Coast Championships in 2002 and 2004.
