Ron Cokain

6th Grade Teacher

Mr. Ron Cokain received his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Grove City College in May of 1983. After working as a substitute teacher for a year, he joined Slippery Rock School District, where he taught a variety of grade levels from 4th through 8th grade for 23 years. During that time, Ron was appointed principal of a Slippery Rock elementary school where he served for five years. He went on work with the district as an associate middle school principal and district director of transportation for two years. During his time at Slippery Rock School District, Ron received a secondary math certification from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University, where he was named "Most Outstanding Graduate Student" in education for the fall of 1992. He also received a Principal Certification through Youngstown State University. In 2007, Ron accepted a position as principal of Maplewood Elementary in the Penncrest School District. For three years he led this PreK-6th grade elementary school with an enrollment of more than 600 students.

In the summer of 2010, Ron and his wife felt called to Central Pennsylvania to be near their growing family. He accepted a position as the principal of Southeastern Middle School West, part of the Southeastern York School District. He led this 5th & 6th grade intermediate elementary school of approximately 450 students for two years. In 2012, Ron retired from public education and he felt God begin to call him toward Christian Education. Ron says "He made it very clear to me that He wanted me to use my skills and gifts in the arena of Christian Education." Ron was led to West Shore Christian Academy last fall as he stepped in to serve on our facilities team. It didn't take long for the administration to realize the amazing skills and experience Ron brings to the table and we are blessed to have him join our amazing team of faculty this fall.

Ron and his wife, Andrea, live in New Cumberland with their 17 year old son, Zach. They also have an adult son, Christopher, two daughters, Michaelene and Ashley, and three grandchildren, Averie, Landon, and Isaac. They attend Christian Life Assembly where Ron is actively involved in the drama and choir program.
